Very accurate and the build quality feels premium. It does take about 30 seconds to warm up which is slightly longer than my old corona detector, but the accuracy of the heated diode makes it worth the wait.
I was looking at the Inficon models but decided to try this based on the specs. Glad I did. It pinpointed a micro-leak on an R410a system in minutes that my previous tool completely missed.
Excellent automotive ac leak detector. The battery life is solid for a full day in the workshop. Only minor gripe is the carry case is a bit bulky for my main tool bag, but it protects the unit well.
Operating Instructions
- Power on the device in a clean-air environment (outside the suspected leak zone).
- Allow the unit to complete its 30-second automatic warm-up and calibration cycle.
- Adjust the sensitivity level based on the suspected size of the leak (start on high for micro-leaks).
- Slowly sweep the flexible probe tip (approx. 5cm per second) along refrigerant lines, joints, and evaporator coils.
- Listen for the escalating audible alarm and watch the LED indicator to pinpoint the exact leak source.
